Ride out with the chapter, keep your group riding sharp and practise the second-man drop-off. Pick your bike, then pick your ride out.
Every bike rides the same.
Ten bikes in the group, yours included. You start somewhere in the middle. Davie, the Head Road Captain (orange vest), leads. The Sweeper (yellow vest) collects each marker, and the Tail End (orange vest) rides at the back. No overtaking within the group.
On the M8 there's a slow lorry to get past. Overtake like a snake, no' like a stick: wait for the bike in front to pull out, follow them out at the same spot, and tuck back in once you're well clear of the cab. Don't pull out all at once, and don't cut in. Traffic comes up fast in lane two, so check your mirror first: an orange CAR arrow at the bottom of the screen means something's coming.
You'll meet cyclists on the A82 and a pair riding side by side on the way to the Rest. Hang back till there's a gap in the oncoming traffic, pass wide (a car's width), one at a time, and tuck back in once you're clear.
On the lochside after Luss you'll meet a horse and rider: wait for a gap, then pass slow and wide. Over the Rest there's a tractor: don't overtake on the bends, he'll pull into a passing place to let you by.
When a two-wheeler comes the other way, a Wave button appears. Wave at motorbikes and they'll wave back. But check it's a motorbike first: wave at a pushbike or a scooter and you'll never hear the end of it.
A crash or a wrong turn costs a bike. After a wrong turn you can try that junction again from your place in the group, or start the ride again. Lose all three and the ride's over.
Black ice makes steering slippy for a moment. Potholes slow you down. Sheep and Highland coos wander across the road, and deer dart out in the forest, so steer round them. A flying traffic cone won't knock you off, but it'll give you a wobble. Stop at red traffic lights.
The round buttons in the top corner turn the sound on or off and make the game full screen, where your phone allows it. During the ride the speaker button sits just above your score. On an iPhone, the silent switch also mutes the game.
Morning all. Ten of us, you included, off to Inveraray, and today we're practising the drop-off, ken.
You are deemed to be in control of and responsible for your vehicle and your riding at all times, irrespective of any guidance or instruction from any members of the road crew. You must at all times ride within the law and obey road traffic regulations.
The group carried on without you, just as it would on a real ride out.
The exits change every run, so you can't memorise them. Follow the markers.
